Why I Love Our Dog-Friendly Holiday Home at Beverley Holidays
Hello, fellow dogs.
I need to tell you about my favourite place in the whole world. It has sea air. Beaches. Walkies. Treats. A field especially for dogs. And, most importantly, a holiday home that belongs to my family.
Well, technically my humans say it belongs to them. But we all know the truth. It’s my holiday home at Beverley Holidays. And because my humans own it, coming to South Devon isn’t something we only get to do once a year. We can keep coming back to our favourite place and enjoy that wonderful feeling of arriving somewhere that already feels like home.
So, if your humans have ever talked about buying a dog friendly holiday home in Devon, send them over here immediately. I have several excellent reasons why I think they should.
I know exactly what it means when the bags come out
You know the signs. Your human starts packing a bag. Someone says, “Have you got the keys?” Your lead appears. Your favourite blanket gets picked up. And suddenly…YOU KNOW.
WE’RE GOING TO BEVERLEY!
Cue uncontrollable tail wagging.
That’s one of the best things about my humans owning a holiday caravan at Beverley Holidays. We’re not arriving somewhere completely new every time. We’re going back to our place. I know where my bed goes. I know my favourite sunny spot. I know exactly which cupboard contains my treats.
I even recognise the journey. And the closer we get, the more excited I become. Apparently repeatedly putting my nose against the car window doesn’t make us arrive any faster….I’ve tested this extensively.
Having our own holiday caravan means more Devon adventures
My humans say one of the things they love about holiday home ownership at Beverley Holidays is having somewhere they can return to again and again. I agree. Beverley Holidays has an 11-month holiday season, which means owners can make the most of their holiday home throughout much of the year.
For a dog, this is excellent news. Because Devon isn’t just for summer. Spring means fresh coastal walks and lots of interesting new smells. Summer means long days, sea air and sitting outside our holiday home watching the world go by. Autumn means crunchy leaves and quieter walks. And winter? Winter means wrapping the humans up in several layers and taking them for a bracing walk beside the sea. They need the exercise.
Owning a holiday home means our favourite Devon adventures don’t have to be squeezed into one week each year. We get to come back. Again. And again. And again.
Have I mentioned that I approve?
Our holiday home feels like a second home
Hotels are all very well. But have you tried having your own holiday caravan in Devon? Excellent idea. When we arrive, everything feels familiar. My humans unpack, put the kettle on and settle in almost immediately.
I conduct the official inspection. Sofa? Still comfortable. View? Still lovely. Treat cupboard? Still stocked. All satisfactory.
Modern static caravans give families plenty of space to relax, while Beverley Holidays also has dog friendly luxury lodges for sale for humans looking for even more room. Some holiday homes have decking too, which I consider an important feature. My humans call it “sitting outside with a coffee”. I call it “neighbourhood surveillance”. I can sit there, enjoy the fresh Devon air and keep a careful eye on everything happening around me. Dog walking past? Spotted. Human carrying food? Spotted. Squirrel? HIGH ALERT. It’s demanding work.
Pawadise Park is basically my private members’ club. There are lots of things I love about Beverley Holidays, but one place deserves a special mention. Pawadise Park.
Even the name is good. Pawadise Park at Beverley Bay is a secure, gated dog exercise area where we can stretch our legs and enjoy some proper dog time. There’s grass beneath our paws and lovely views across Torbay. Not that I spend much time admiring them. I’m usually busy. There are smells to investigate. Friends to greet. Balls to chase. And zoomies to perform. My humans seem to enjoy standing there looking at the sea while I run around. Everyone wins.
Having somewhere like Pawadise Park close to our holiday home means I can enjoy a good run without us having to head off on a big adventure every time. Although, for the record, I’m also available for big adventures. At any time. Day or night. Just say “walkies”.
The warm doggy shower saves our holiday home from my adventures
I wasn’t going to include this bit. My humans insisted. Apparently, another benefit of owning a dog friendly holiday home at Beverley Holidays is the warm doggy shower. I would argue that mud is part of my natural beauty. My humans would argue that they’d rather I didn’t spread it all over their holiday home. After a sandy beach walk or muddy adventure, the outdoor doggy shower means I can get cleaned up before heading back inside. This is apparently very useful for keeping our holiday home looking lovely. I still don’t understand why they don’t want half of Goodrington Beach on the carpet. It would be a nice souvenir.
We have some brilliant beaches nearby
Now we’re getting to the important stuff. BEACHES. One of my favourite things about having a holiday home at Beverley is being close to the South Devon coast. There are dog friendly beaches to discover around the English Riviera, including places where I can paddle, sniff, explore and enjoy a good run with my humans. Goodrington Sands is just down the hill, and there are plenty of other coastal adventures within easy reach around Paignton, Brixham and Torquay.
This means a perfectly normal day at our holiday home can suddenly become… “Shall we go to the beach?” YES. The answer is always yes. Lead on. Out the door. Let’s go. No further discussion required.
Then there are the South Devon walkies…
Being based on the English Riviera also puts us close to some excellent dog-friendly walks in South Devon. There are coastal paths, countryside walks and plenty of places to explore around Torbay. We can head towards Berry Head and Brixham, explore around Goodrington or venture further afield for a day out. And when my humans fancy a bigger adventure, Devon has even more waiting for us, including Dartmoor. Owning a holiday home here means we don’t have to fit everything into one visit.
If we discover a brilliant walk, we can do it again next time. And the time after that. Dogs appreciate repetition. Breakfast every day. Walkies every day. Treats every day. Favourite Devon walk every time we visit. It’s a perfectly good system.
Plus my owner’s use the Local Walks section of the Beverley Holidays app to discover great new places for me to explore!
I can go to the Owners’ Lounge too
You might think holiday home ownership is mainly about the humans. Incorrect. Dogs are welcome in selected areas around Beverley Holidays too, including the Coast Owners’ Lounge. This is important because I don’t want my humans disappearing off to enjoy themselves without me.
There are other dog-friendly places around the parks where we can spend time together, including selected areas of Saltwater Kitchen, Terrace & Bar, The Jetty Bar and Terrace, The Catch Takeaway and Boulevard Café.
There are also fresh-water bowls around the parks. Very thoughtful. Although I personally prefer it when my humans order something to eat. Which brings me to…
THERE’S A DOG MENU
Fellow dogs. Please sit down for this. Beverley Holidays has food for us. Not scraps. Not “you can have a tiny piece when I’ve finished”. Actual doggy treats and dishes.
Sir Woofchester’s canine menu includes choices such as Bark Burgers and Rolly Pups, plus dog-friendly drinks including the rather sophisticated Paw-Star Martini. A martini. For dogs.
Finally, the hospitality industry is moving in the right direction. There are even doggy treats available around the park, including at the Sales Showground. I therefore recommend accompanying your humans whenever they go to look at holiday homes. This is entirely for their benefit, obviously. The possibility of receiving a treat has nothing whatsoever to do with it.
Even some owner events are dog-friendly
My humans get lots of benefits from owning their holiday home at Beverley Holidays. There’s the Coast Owners’ Lounge, activities and events, leisure facilities and special owner experiences throughout the season. But Beverley hasn’t forgotten about us. Selected Freedom Club owner events are dog friendly, which means sometimes I get to join the fun too.
And that’s what I really like about this place. I’m not simply the dog who happens to come with my humans. I’m part of their Beverley life.
My humans have friends here – and so do I
There’s another thing about coming back to the same holiday home that I hadn’t expected. You start recognising people. My humans have made friends at Beverley. And I’ve made friends too. I recognise familiar dogs around the park. There are humans who know my name. Some of them even know that I like treats. These are clearly very intelligent people.
Every time we return, there’s that lovely feeling that we know the place. We have our favourite walks. Our favourite places to sit. Our favourite spots around the park. My humans can relax because everything is familiar. And I can relax because I’ve already worked out exactly where the snacks are.
The best bit? We’re together
This is the real reason I love our holiday home. We’re all here. Together. At home, humans are always doing things. Work. Shopping. Cleaning. Looking at phones. Saying, “We’ll go for a walk in a minute.”
At Beverley, everything feels different. There’s more time. Time for morning walks. Time for the beach. Time to sit outside our holiday home together. Time for long lunches. Time for another walk because I looked at my lead hopefully. Time to do absolutely nothing. My humans seem more relaxed when they’re here. And when they’re happy, I’m happy. Especially if their happiness involves a Bark Burger.
Why every dog should persuade their humans to own a holiday home
So, fellow dogs, if your humans are considering buying a dog friendly static caravan or holiday lodge in Devon, I suggest deploying your most persuasive techniques immediately.
Try the head tilt. Rest your chin on their knee. Give them The Eyes. You know The Eyes. Because having our own holiday home at Beverley Holidays means we have somewhere special that we can keep returning to. Somewhere with beaches nearby. Somewhere with fantastic walks. Somewhere with Pawadise Park for zoomies and a warm doggy shower for the aftermath. Somewhere I can join my humans in dog-friendly areas around the parks. Somewhere that even serves food and drinks especially for me. But most of all, it’s somewhere that feels like ours. My humans call it their holiday home. I call it my happy place. And every time I hear those magic words…
“Shall we go to Beverley?” …my tail gives them the answer.
