Reasons Why You’ll Love Autumn On The Riviera

We might wave goodbye to Summer come September, but back to school doesn’t have to mean goodbye staycations. Join us here at Beverley Holidays and you’ll soon discover that there’s still plenty of fun to be hand on the English Riviera as we welcome in Autumn in all its golden glory. Here’s our top 5 reasons to consider a getaway in the glorious Autumn season….

1. September Sunshine

While the month of September heralds in the start of Autumn, it is in fact an amazing time to escape to the English Riviera. Not only do temperatures tend to still be mild, with lots of daylight and long evenings to enjoy, but all this comes with the added bonus of being free of busy Summer crowds Best of all, Beverley’s fantastic range of facilities are still buzzing with life including nightly entertainment in our Starlight Bar and a jam-packed daytime activity programme that’s busting at the seams. Plus, many of the English Riviera’s award-winning attractions remain well and truly open including Babbacombe Model Village which continues its Summer Evening Illuminations well into September (7 & 14 September).

2. Torbay Pride Returns

You might think the end of Summer means festival season comes to a close, but that’s far from the case here on the English Riviera. In September, Torbay Pride returns in all its rainbow-coloured glory for the first times more than 11 years, a fabulous and, best of all, free family event taking place on Torre Abbey Meadows (2 September). Cheer on its parade which winds through the streets of Torquay before ending at Torbay Prides’ main stage, kickstarting an awesome line-up of live entertainment hosted by Lola Versace including Adele and Beyonce tribute acts.

3. Autumn Colours

While blue-sky-days gradually grow more cloudy come October, Autumn brings a kaleidoscope of colours across the English Riviera. Head to Cockington, a quintessentially English village tucked away in Torquay which offers up a stunning spectrum of Autumn shades, best enjoyed on a leisurely stroll around its 450 acres of country park. Head along on 15 October and you can even enjoy a bite of its annual Cockington Apple Day, complete with local food, drinks and handmade crafts, plus a chance to watch its cider press in action as it turns the Autumn windfall into delicious juice.

4. Empty Beaches Galore

A huge benefit of holidaying with Beverley Holidays in the Autumn is that you can enjoy endless miles of empty beaches and coastline all to yourself. Stroll along nearby Goodrington Sands and you’ll find the Summer crowds replaced with nothing but seagulls and surf – perfect for those looking to get away from it all. And if you’re holidaying with a pet pooch in tow, be sure to time your visit for the English Riviera Walking Festival (23-30 September), a dog-friendly event that encourages walkers of all abilities to enjoy an adventure on the Riviera’s scenic coast – just don’t forget your walking boots!

5. October Half Term

With the Summer Holidays behind us, the countdown to October Half Term begins and boy do we have a brilliant one lined-up for you here at Beverley Holidays. Join us for a wickedly-good October Half Term holiday, including freakishly good fun for the whole family as we pay homage to Halloween with lots of devilish daytime activities and eerie nightly entertainment. From pumpkin carving to Halloween fancy dress, we have plenty to keep the little horrors happy, plus not forgetting lots of ghoulish goings-on across the English Riviera including A (Very) Batty Half Term at Kents Cavern (21-31 October).
