All you need is a base from which you can explore its many offerings, and our collection of holiday homes are perfectly placed at the heart of the action…
Adrenaline-Fueled Fun
If you’ve come to Devon in search of something to get the pulse racing, you’ve picked the right place. Our family-run holiday parks are conveniently positioned just moments from the UK’s largest all-outdoor waterpark, Splashdown, where thrill-seekers can get their kicks on nine water flumes including the formidable Devil’s Drop. And if that doesn’t get the blood pumping, a trip aboard The Raptor certainly will. Catapulting you around the Torbay coastline on a 30-minute RIB ride, it’s a great way to see the sights at accelerated speed. And not forgetting Beverley’s brilliant-line of on-pack activities, from water zorbing to a chance to take on our giant inflatable challenge.
Seaside Favorites
A trip to the seaside wouldn’t be complete without embarking on some traditions synonymous with being by the beach. Top of most people’s ‘things to do in Devon’ bucketlist is crabbing, a fun activity the little ones will love and which won’t pull on the purse strings. Just head down to the nearby harbourside town of Brixham or Stoke Gabriel where unsuspecting crabs can be found in abundance. Next up, try your luck on the arcade machines on Paignton Pier, a firm seaside favourite since days gone by, before tucking into traditional fish and chips on Paignton seafront. Better still, The Catch on Beverley Park serves tasty cod and chips which you can enjoy in the comfort of your holiday home.
Great Outdoors
Getting back to nature is easily done in Devon – the only county in the UK to boast two coastlines, not forgetting endless miles rolling countryside. Fill your lungs with some fresh sea air with a trip to one of Devon’s many beautiful beaches, including Goodrington Sands which lies within easy reach of our holiday homes. If the countryside is calling, Cockington Country Park comprises 450 acres of picturesque parkland complete with ornamental lakes and a chocolate-box village. Our holiday homes are also within easy reach of the South West Coastal Path, so grab your walking boots and traverse the 630-mile route – a must on your ‘things to do in South Devon’ list.
Animal Magic
Whether you love creatures of the cuddly kind or something slightly more exotic, Devon offers some great days out for animal fans. Paignton Zoo, home to more than 2,000 animals ranging from rhinos to red pandas, as well as beautiful botanical plants, is just moments from our holiday homes. Or dive beneath the surface with a trip to Plymouth, home to the UK’s biggest aquarium. The National Marine Aquarium boasts the deepest tank in the UK, where tiny Angelfish swim alongside Sand Tiger Sharks in a great day out whatever the weather. Back in Torbay, Occombe Farm provides plenty more animal action of a fluffier kind, with kids able to cuddle up to cute farmyard creatures in its Animal Encounter Barn.
Culture Vultures
If you’re keen to inject some culture into your seaside stay, Torquay Museum takes you on an historic trip covering 400 million years of Torbay’s heritage. Or why not channel your inner caveman at Kents Cavern, Britain’s oldest-known prehistoric cave where ancient humans once roamed alongside Sabra tooth tigers? Other things to do in South Devon of the cultural kind include a visit to the former holiday home of legendary crime writer Agatha Christie at Greenway Estate.
