If you’ve come to the English Riviera in search of an accessible home from home with wheelchair-friendly attractions at every turn, you’re in the right place. Torbay has an excellent reputation for offering an abundance of days out, with many of its attractions being accessible to all, including wheelchair users and those with mobility aids. We’ve put together a few of our favourites so you can make the most of your holiday home on the English Riviera

Wheely Good Day Out

Founded on the belief that everybody should get the chance to enjoy the English Riviera’s stunning coastline, Wetwheels Torbay enables each person to enjoy the thrill of being out at sea. Jump aboard one of its scheduled trips departing from Torbay harbourside and enjoy a salty adventure on the ocean waves in search of sea life including dolphins, porpoise, seals and sea birds. Designed to give every disabled person, including those with profound and complex disabilities, the chance to experience the excitement of power boating without boundaries, passengers can even take the helm as the skipper.

All Aboard

For those keen to keep their feet firmly on dry land, another great wheelchair-accessible attraction on the English Riviera is Dartmouth Steam Railway. Taking you on a journey across glorious South Devon countryside and coastline, its historic steam train departs from Paignton or Kingswear station, both of which provide level access to the platforms. Ramps are provided for wheelchair access to the carriages which feature a designated wheelchair area where you can sit back and soak up the stunning aspects as they zoom past your window, including jaw-dropping scenes of the Geopark-status coastline.

Park Life

Another of Torbay’s top accessible attractions is a trip to the picture-postcard setting of Cockington Country Park. Offering 450 acres of beautifully-landscaped gardens, parkland and woodland complete with a traditional thatched pub and Manor House, its tarmac and laid paths mean its easily navigated by wheelchair. Similarly, Berry Head Nature Reserve has a level 300m route suitable for non-motorised wheelchair users that will take you up to the heady heights of its stunning headland, complete with an iconic lighthouse and Napoleonic Fort.
